Look

I wish my nails were this cool.

All about hardware accessories.

I had a prom dress like this. It was awesome.

Hardware

The amazing Tavi pointed out the really cool detailing on Carey Mulligan's Prada Oscar dress.
It reminds me of the necklace designed by Maya on this season of Project Runway for the hardware challenge.

The necklace is made out of keys from a hardware store. However, both Mulligan's dress and Maya's necklace manage to make something very elegant out of mundane objects. I love this sort of thinking that brings new materials to fashion and makes them completely wearable.

Retro Oscars

These retro Oscar photos were inspired by the official Oscar site. Above is Elizabeth Taylor at the 32nd Annual Academy Awards in the sixties. Rarely do women bring fur to the Oscars these days. Taylor's dress shape is very flattering thought and can be seen in various incarnations throughout Oscar history.

Helen Hayes at the 5th Annual Academy Awards in the thirties. I love her half gloves.

Vivien Leigh at the 12th Annual Academy Awards in the forties.

Audrey Hepburn at the 26th Annual Academy Awards in the fifties.
This dress reminded me of Sandra Bullocks' dress this year and Angie Harmon's
dress at the Vanity Fair party.

Grace Kelly at the 27th Annual Academy Awards in the fifties.
Why doesn't anyone wear gloves anymore?

Sophia Loren at the 30th Annual Academy Awards in the fifties.

Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin at the 36th Annual Academy Awards in the sixties.
Dee is looking very Jacqueline Kennedy

Goldie Hawn at the 53rd Annual Academy Awards in the eighties.
